{My Review}
I was sent all of these awesome products in their lemongrass-kiwi scent. I will review each product one by one to let you know of my experiences with each.
Natural Laundry Wash:
I am always afraid when trying new cloth diaper detergent. I am so nervous that it will effect my diapers some how. After three washes with A Happy Green Life Laundry Wash my diapers started leaking. I think they were repelling. I was so disappointed and felt bad, thinking I was going to have to write a negative review for the wash. I contacted Amanda from A Happy Green Life as soon as it started. She was shocked because no one else has had that problem.
This is Amanda's response about the leaking issue:
"Our laundry wash is not made with soap, and two of the ingredients are commonly used for stripping diapers, we formulated it to work as a stripper each time you use it, so there isn't really anything to build up."
She recommended that I do a soak with two scoops of their detergent and then a regular wash with no detergent. In effect stripping the diapers with their Natural Wash.
I stripped all of my diapers using A Happy Green Life Laundry Wash and voila, the diapers stopped leaking!
I have recently learned from fellow cloth diaper reviewers that you should do a stripping EVERY TIME you switch cloth diaper detergents. The new detergent can pull out residue from previous detergents and cause issues.
I have been using this detergent exclusively for a whole month now. I really wanted to test the Laundry Wash out thoroughly. I have had problems arise over time with other detergents and didn't want to recommend a cloth diaper detergent until I was sure of it.
Well, I am IN LOVE with A Happy Green Life Natural Laundry Wash. It works fantastic! My whole bathroom smells wonderful just by having the wash in there. My diapers come out of the wash with a slight lemongrass-kiwi scent. This is the first cloth safe laundry wash that I have tried that leaves a scent but does not cause build up. My son had been having terrible rashes for months and I could not get it cleared up. Since switching to A Happy Green Life Wash he has had 90% less rashes. He has gotten a couple small ones but I think they were caused by non-stay dry diaper material.
I love and trust it so much now, that I prepped all of my new baby's (due in 2 weeks) cloth diapers and newborn clothes with this Natural Wash. After using the wash exclusively on my cloth diapers and new baby clothes for one month, there is still half a bag left. You only need one scoop per load and the bag is good for FIFTY loads!
I would highly recommend this Natural Laundry Wash to all of my friends and family.
The only draw back for me is that I live in Canada and A Happy Green Life is American. To have this great product shipped to me will cost $13 per bag or more! You can buy the wash for only $10.00.
From A Happy Green Life site:
Canada shipping: We ship flat rate to Canada $13.00 for one bag, 2-4 bags $33.00, up to 6 bags $40.00
I do not blame the company for the shipping costs at all. Shipping even within Canada is ridiculous these days. It just sucks that I won't be able to continue to buy their Natural Laundry Wash. I would switch over to it in an instant if I could get the awesome $5.00 flat shipping rate that residents of the US can receive.
No matter how many bags you buy within the USA you only pay $5.00 shipping!
Hopefully, A Happy Green Life will get some Canadian retailers in the near future and I can buy from them for less cost.
Natural Neutralizing Powder:
I was VERY impressed with their neutralizing powder. I sprinkled the powder in the bottom of my son's diaper pail underneath the pail liner. The pail is plastic and traps nasty odors easily. This powder completely removed all odors! I actually stuck my head in the pail a couple of times and all you can smell is the lemongrass-kiwi scent. I have only added the powder to the pail twice in a month. It is very long lasting and does not require much to do the job.
Natural Kitchen Soap
The lemongrass-kiwi scent is VERY strong in this soap. By using a very small amount the scent lingers on your hands for hours. It worked very well to clean our hands and get rid of over-powering kitchen odors from cooking. My husband uses it often when he comes in from working in the garage. It cleans his grimy work hands well. The bottle I received is not a foaming pump as the ones for sale on their website. Perhaps I received the older version. I think a foaming pump bottle would be better as the bottle I have squirts it out quickly and dispenses more than necessary. My husband and I have been using the kitchen soap on our hands for a month now and the bottle is half gone. Honestly, I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing as I have never paid attention to how long liquid soap lasted before. You can be the judge. :)
Natural Aroma Spray
The spray worked well for providing a brief infusion of scent into a room. The spray is not very fine so I believe it falls to the floor quickly. It does leave a nice scent but does not last too long. It just occurred to me that spraying it on some fabric and leaving the fabric in a room would probably leave a much longer scent. I liked using it in the mornings in my son's room. He sleeps 12 hours a night and often his room smells like ammonia in the morning from his overnight diaper. The aroma spray help freshen it up. The one complaint I have is that the natural aroma spray I was sent was in an identical green spray bottle as the wipe spray. I kept both in my son's room so I had to verify each time I used the bum spray that it was the correct bottle. I really did not want to use aroma spray on my baby's bottom! I see on their website that the aroma spray now comes in a clear bottle so confusion will be avoided.
Natural Lanolin Wipe Concentrate
I received a tester of their upcoming lanolin wipe concentrate. The ounces are not written on the bottle but it is the same size as the sprays. This solution was in Baby Bee scent which has a much milder scent than the lemongrass-kiwi of the other products. At first I just added a little bit to the water container I use for wipes without measuring. It worked well but didn't make a very noticeable difference to the water. Next, I actually followed directions and measured out the proper amounts. ;)
The bottle says to add 1 teaspoon to every 1/2 cup of water. I use a Pampers disposable wipes container to store water and then dunk the cloth wipes into it as needed. I measured that this container holds 5 cups of water. Which means I had to add 10 teaspoons of the liquid concentrate. I was surprised with how much was needed. You will really go through a bottle quickly if you use the recommended amount. It did provide a very nice creamy texture to the water and the scent was much more noticeable. We use a container full of water/wipe solution every few days so at 10 teaspoons each time the concentrate would not last long. I think that using half of the amount would do just as good a job and would prolong the concentrate. It probably just would not be as silky.

Natural Lanolin Wipe Spray
The wipe spray is made with lanolin (the same as the concentrate) which is what many nursing mother's swear by for treating sore, cracked nipples. I believe this is a great thing to have in a wipe solution, it does not dry out the skin and leaves a layer of protection each time it is used. I like the spray for cleaning up after my son pees in his diaper. It didn't work that well for poops as it didn't get the wipes wet enough to tackle the job. But for freshening up it was great. My son loved it when I sprayed his bum with the solution and then wiped it off. He would take the bottle and poke at his privates with the bottle trying to make it spray again as I cleaned him up. He would giggle every time I changed him that way. I love that it made diaper changes more enjoyable for him because as any parent of a toddler knows, often it is hard to keep them still while changing diapers!
{Conclusion}
I really enjoyed all of the A Happy Green Life products I was sent. They all did their jobs very well and offered a great long-lasting scent. My favorites were the Natural Laundry Wash and the Neutralizing Powder. They did the job better than any other like it. All their products last a very long time. I would say a minimum of two months for each item with others like the wipe spray lasting even longer. I find all of the prices very reasonable from this company and the shipping prices within the USA is great. I would love if a cheaper shipping option were available to Canada. If it were I would definitely sign up for the scent of the month club. I think everyone should try these products. A Happy Green Life is a fantastic way to "go green" without having to give up quality and performance!

ReplyDeleteI am always looking for a natural detergent that I can use to wash my mama pads. And I help other mothers wash and take care of cloth diaper issues so this sounds like a wonderful detergent. My only question is do they have the scents that are made with essential oils as all natural or not? and can you by it unscented? But I can probably answer these questions by looking online.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this product. We currently use Country Save as it has no scent and daughter had bad rashes too. She reacted right away to Rock N green so while it smelled great couldn't use it.
