{My Review}

I did not receive the fitted and wool cover from Nifty Nappy until my son was a week old. The original set had gotten lost in the mail. Vilate was very nice and sewed and sent another fitted and cover for me to review. Once I received them, the fitted had to be washed and dried 5 times to reach maximum absorbancy because of the hemp and bamboo. I am always so impatient when waiting for diapers to prep!

I really wish I would have had the diapers at the birth of my son because I had VERY few cloth diapers that fit below his umbilical stump. The Bitty Bum and Weensy Woolies (love the names!) are very low rise so I'm sure they would have fit well underneath his stump without causing irritation.

Both the fitted and wool cover are mostly made with organic materials which is great for Eco-Conscious families.

Bitty Bum

I love the fitted black and white pattern. It looks so sophisticated!

Nifty Nappy --- Bitty Bum fitted.

I love that the diaper is made with hemp and bamboo. Such great materials to use in a newborn diaper as they are so absorbent without being bulky. I really like that the lay-in-insert is hemp fleece and bamboo velour as I believe fleece and velour cause less diaper rashes than regular bamboo/hemp. Having a lay-in-insert instead of sewing it in is also a great idea. AIOs take so long to dry but the Bitty Bum dries very well as the two parts of the diaper wash and dry separately.

My son is almost 11 lbs now (he was 8 lbs 14 oz at birth) and just over 3 weeks old. He still has plenty of room around the waist but I believe that the rise will not fit him for much longer. The diaper is very low cut and in the back the diaper JUST covers his bum crack. I am afraid as he gets bigger we may start to have blow outs. The diaper is supposed to fit until 15 lbs but I don't think it will on my son because of the rise.

This would be an ideal fitted for smaller babies and preemies. Or any baby right at birth because of the low rise which will not irritate the umbilical cord stump.

Weensy Woolies

I love wool! I have longies and shorties for both of my sons now and think they are a great night-time diapering solution.Wool is breathable and anti-bacterial. I was super excited when Nifty Nappy sent me their newborn sized wool cover to review.

Nifty Nappy --- Weensy Woolies cover

I washed and lanolized the cover right away. The Weensy Woolies did not take long to dry. Most wool takes at least 24 hours to dry completely but this cover look about 3/4 of that time. This is the first interlock wool that I have tried. I love how soft and thin it is.

The encased leg elastic left no red marks on my son's legs and the entire cover is very soft and smooth.

It is the same size as the Bitty Bum fitted. I wish the cover had a little higher rise as the fitted and cover reach the same spot on his belly. If it had a higher rise I would be more confident that we would not have wicking. There hasn't been any yet but I am afraid it would happen eventually. (See video for a visual.)

The Bitty Bum and Weensy Woolies work great as a set. They are a very trim diaper pair and are not bulky under newborn clothes. I tried the cover with a newborn prefold and the prefold rise was higher than the cover so there was wicking. The Nifty Nappy newborn fitted and cover are designed to go together which they do well. It is unfortunate that the cover does not work with prefolds as prefolds make up the majority of most newborn stashes.

    1. They don't snap down. They are low-rise so they fit underneath the belly button without snapping.

  5. I like that these are not bulky. It looks a bit silly when a newborn has a huge bum!

  6. I like that the elastic is hidden so it leaves no red marks. Some of the covers I had for my last baby left red marks on his delicate skin.
