{My Review}

I reviewed a Greenchild Creation flannel fitted cloth diaper with my first son when he was 14 months old. I liked how adjustable it is and was excited to see how it would fit on a newborn. Anne from Greenchild Creations sent me another diaper to try out on my 8 lbs 14 oz newborn for my Newborn Cloth Galore & More event.

The flannel fitted diaper fit my newborn right from birth. I was able to adjust the rise by folding the front flap and getting a good fit underneath my son's umbilical cord stump. I folded it low enough that none of the material touched the stump so no irritation occurred.

For a newborn the 3 layers of flannel was enough absorbancy. The front flap folded over plus the two wings created a center of absorbancy right at the front of the diaper which is essential for diapering baby boys. I love that the fitted has a pocket for adding inserts. You can increase the absorbancy as your child grows or for overnight diapering.

Using diaper pins allows you to get just the right fit as you are not limited to where snaps or velcro are placed, like on most diapers. When I reviewed this diaper with my first son I was too nervous to use diaper pins. I was scared I was going to prick him because he was a squirmy toddler. The pins are very easy to use with a newborn however as they actually lay still during diaper changes. Even at 2 months old using the pins is simple to do. I used this fitted with a Snappi also. The Snappi cannot grab the flannel material as easily as it can cotton prefolds but it does work.

Since the diaper is made of flannel the colours will fade with wear and the material will develop some pilling (little balls of fabric buildup). I have had very good luck with my Greenchild Creations flannel fitteds as they have not had much fading or pilling. Just keep this in mind when buying flannel products.

Greenchild Creations flannel fitteds are true one-size diapers. You can get the perfect fit on your child by folding the front flap and using pins. You can also choose the absorbancy you need for your child. The rise and absorbancy will grow with your child. This fitted diaper can be used on a newborn and a 2 year old. I have done both with great success. I prefer to use this diaper on my new baby as he will lay still making me more comfortable when using the diaper pins.

I also received two small samples of Greenchild Creations all natural soap and was impressed by this as well. The soap has a nice long lasting scent and a great lather. I have heard that it is pretty rare to get much foam from natural soaps so it was a nice surprise.

I am very impressed with the prices from Greenchild Creations. The fitted diaper costs only $10.00! That is almost unheard of for a handmade one-size fitted diaper. You will need to add inserts as your child grows but every cloth diapering mom I know has extra micro-fiber inserts laying around. Newborn-sized prefolds would work perfectly as inserts for older babies as well.

  1. I like that you talked about using pins and Snappi's. I've often wondered how Snappi's would work on flannel; so far, we've only used on prefolds. Thanks for a great review! Anne Sweden

    what do you do with the long flap part when using a snappi?

  7. Prices are appealing for a one size fitted! I like that you can use them for a long time and can add absorbency as your child needs it.

  22. Even at $12, that's a great price for a cloth diaper. This would be a great alternative for moms who can't afford more expensive pocket diapers, but who don't want to use prefolds.

  23. I learned that there soaps are naturally vegan

  24. I'm super new to cloth diapering, just taking time to learn out them and may start soon with my five month old. Your video was super helpful and when I heard you mention a snappi I goggled it and learned even more! There's lots of brands and types so I want to do a lot of research before I invest in a set I like.

    1. I recommend getting a few different brands. You won't know which ones will work the best for your baby until you try them. Good luck!

  25. I like that these have elastic around the legs - I'm just reading up on cloth diapers so far, but I didn't know this was an option. Seems logical.
